1. What brought you to PR in the first place?
I wasn’t planning to go into PR – it found me. I received an email from a recruiter at WE Communications (Waggener Edstrom at the time). I interviewed for an Assistant Account Executive position for the Microsoft account team. I started my career in media buying at a big agency in Los Angeles and then for Wieden+Kennedy. My goal was to go into television ad sales at the time, but instead, I landed in PR for a high-tech account. Luck was on my side, as I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
2. What inspires you?
Research and uncovering information that can turn into a strategy or program for clients. (And, of course, my Golden Retriever!)
3. What do you like best about working at Nereus?
My teammates, hands down! I work with the most incredibly passionate, smart and driven people. You spend so much time at work that it is almost like another family. I’d be proud to call any one of my colleagues family.
4. What’s something not everyone knows about you?
This question is funny because I think everyone knows almost everything about me – I share a lot. They would agree. The only one possibility is that in college I joined the Airforce ROTC and thought I wanted to fly planes for a living.
5. Describe your perfect weekend?
My perfect weekend starts with a beautiful sunny day (not too hot) and some form of exercise outside with my husband and dog, Parker. I love brunch, so this would also factor into my perfect weekend. I also consider a weekend perfect if I get some yard work or house cleaning done too. I’m a bit of a clean freak.
6. Favorite vacation spot?
For a big city vacation, I’d take New York any day. However, I recently traveled to Berlin, and that city is fantastic and fun. For a beach type vacation, I’d have to say Manhattan Beach, a classic California beach full of restaurants, shops, and a beautiful bike path that goes for miles.
7. Timbers or Blazers?
8. Star Wars or Star Trek?
Star Wars if I had to pick, but the original Star Trek series was pretty cool.
9. Dogs or cats? Pets’ names and breeds?
My husband is a veterinarian, and we used to have many animals. We are now down to one cat, named Simba and of course, Parker our Golden Retriever.
10. Favorite brewery (or winery)?
Trefethen Family Vineyards in Napa, CA.
11. Favorite season in Portland?
End of summer/beginning of fall in Oregon. We have some beautiful fall days.
12. Favorite movie?
West Side Story
13. Favorite book?
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
14. Favorite musician/band?
I honestly can’t pick a favorite. My mood drives what music I listen to, so it could be classical one day and rock the next. I do have a special place in my heart for Norah Jones. I’ve seen her perform every time she is in Oregon. She’s an incredibly talented musician/songwriter.
15. Favorite pizza topping?
Tomatoes (and basil)
16.Coffee or tea?
17. What is your favorite place you have gotten to travel to while working for Nereus?
18. Beach or mountains?
Both. I live in Oregon where you can hit both in an hour.
19. iPhone or Android?
iPhone (I still miss my Blackberry)
20. What’s your walk-up song?
I have two:
